Project Summary
For the Emery Becker Photographer website, my goal was to transfer the existing design in Wix to WordPress while integrating WooCommerce for print sales. The project was managed by Emery Becker's parents following his tragic passing in a car accident. The main challenge was to maintain the original design while implementing the necessary e-commerce functionality.
Problem Summary
The existing Emery Becker Photographer website was in WIX, which made it difficult to manage and update conten as well as installing an ecommerce function. Additionally, there was no functionality for selling prints, which limited the potential for monetizing Emery's photography.
Solution Summary
The solution was to migrate the website to WordPress, a popular content management system, and integrate WooCommerce, a robust e-commerce platform, to enable print sales. By leveraging WordPress and WooCommerce, we could provide Emery Becker's parents with a user-friendly interface to manage the website content and sell prints, thus preserving Emery's legacy and creating a sustainable revenue stream that would leave to a school scholarship funding.

Research
As a front-end developer, my research involved understanding the current HTML/CSS structure of the website and identifying the necessary changes to accommodate WordPress and WooCommerce. I explored different WordPress themes and plugins, focusing on ones that aligned with the desired design aesthetics and provided WooCommerce integration. Additionally, I researched best practices for optimizing performance, responsiveness, and accessibility.

Ideation
To maintain the original design, I collaborated closely with Emery Becker's parents and reviewed the existing website thoroughly. We discussed their vision and requirements, ensuring that the transition to WordPress and WooCommerce didn't compromise the artistic integrity of Emery's work. We identified key design elements, such as color schemes, typography, and image layouts, to be preserved in the new implementation.

Testing
During the development process, I conducted extensive testing to ensure a seamless user experience and compatibility across different devices and browsers. I performed cross-browser testing, checked responsive design on various screen sizes, and validated accessibility standards. I also conducted user testing with Emery Becker's parents to gather feedback on the usability of the admin interface and the purchasing process.

Delivery
Upon completion of development and testing, I delivered the final WordPress website with integrated WooCommerce functionality to Emery Becker's parents. I provided them with documentation and training on managing the website, updating content, and handling print sales through WooCommerce. Ongoing support and maintenance were also discussed to ensure the smooth operation of the website and e-commerce platform.
Overall, the Emery Becker Photographer website project aimed to honor Emery's legacy by providing his parents with a platform to share his stunning photography with the world and generate revenue through print sales.
